Impact of Climate Change on Global Drought

Climate change is increasingly exacerbating the problem of global drought, threatening food security and water safety in many parts of the world. Deteriorating water quality impacts human health, causes water-related diseases, and fuels conflict over increasingly scarce resources. Climate change also affects wind patterns and sea surface temperatures, which contribute to extreme weather phenomena. This phenomenon often causes severe drought and affects people’s ability to survive. In many countries, farmers are faced with the risk of more frequent and longer-lasting droughts, forcing them to seek more effective adaptation strategies, such as selecting crop varieties that are more resistant to drought or adopting more efficient irrigation techniques. Governments in various countries are starting to recognize the importance of mitigating climate change and adapting to its impacts. Various policies, such as integrated water resources management and restoration of degraded land, are starting to be implemented. Investment in technology for better water management is essential. In addition, public awareness regarding water conservation and sustainable practices is key in facing these challenges. Technological innovations, such as the use of sensors to monitor soil moisture and automated irrigation systems, offer a way out. The development of plant varieties that are more resistant to drought is also highly desirable. Education and training for farmers on better resource management is needed so they can adapt to changing conditions. Global initiatives, such as the Paris Agreement, serve as platforms for international collaboration on mitigation and adaptation efforts, highlighting the importance of collective action in confronting these issues.
