With weather patterns predicted to become increasingly erratic, forest fires are expected to occur more frequently. Solutions to address the increase in forest fires must involve a multifaceted approach. Sustainable forest management, restoration of degraded land, and increasing public awareness are important steps. The application of technology, such as the use of satellites to monitor hot spots, can also help in preventing fires. Continuing to increase collaboration between government, non-government organizations and communities is also crucial to developing effective mitigation strategies. Education and training on environmentally friendly land management techniques is very important for farmers and land users. Policies supporting non-destructive forest management, as well as incentives for sustainable practices, must be strengthened.
